Brussels can no longer assume its social-security liabilities.

The state is failing. What now?

New reserve currency debate – Repeal IMF

Posted by Ivo Cerckel on 4th July 2009

Repeal the IMF and its SDRs.

Repeal the International Monetary Fund and its Special Drawing Rights.

Since 15 August 1971
when US of A president Richard Nixon broke the Bretton Woods Agreements
which linked the US of A dollar to gold at fixed parity
and all other currencies to the said dollar,
the IMF has no more reason to exist.

If this planet needs a reserve currency,
the debate should centre on the question
what will be the VALUE of that currency.

The debate should not be: which nation, so-called nation, will receive the exorbitant privilege of issuing it?

The IMF has no more reason to exist.

Giving its SDR basket the status of world reserve currency
is double fraud.

Zeng Urges Oversight of Reserve-Currency Nations (Update3)

July 3 (Bloomberg) — Former Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan highlighted the nation’s concern at the risks posed by a global financial system dominated by the dollar, urging more oversight of countries issuing reserve currencies.
“There should be a system to maintain the stability of the major reserve currencies,” said Zeng, the head of a research center under the government’s top economic planning agency. Fiscal and current-account deficits must be supervised as “your currency is likely to become my problem,” he said in a speech in Beijing today.

The People’s Bank of China renewed on June 26 its call for a new global currency and said the International Monetary Fund should manage more of members’ foreign-exchange reserves.
“To avoid the inherent deficiencies of using sovereign currencies for reserves, there’s a need to create an international reserve currency that’s delinked from sovereign nations,” the central bank said in a report. The IMF should expand the functions of its unit of account, Special Drawing Rights, the report said.

G8 united in not shifting reserve currencies-source
Reuters – Saturday, July 4

July 3 – The Group of Eight leading industrialized nations are showing little enthusiasm for China’s idea of questioning the dollar’s status as the main global reserve currency, a G8 source involved in preparations for next week’s G8 summit said on Friday.
“There is pretty broad consensus with the G8 that this is not the time to experiment with reserve currencies, however attractive it might seem,” said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity.
G8 sources said earlier this week that China had asked for discussion of proposals for a new global reserve currency at next week’s G8 meeting in Italy, which will be expanded on the second day to include China and other emerging nations.
The reserve currency debate centres on proposals by some emerging powers that an alternative should be found to the dollar as the main global reserve currency, to reflect the shifting balance of power in the globalised economy.
China has been particularly vocal. It holds more U.S. Treasury debt than any other country and has expressed fears that Washington’s huge spending on economic stimulus could spark inflation, hurting the value of China’s dollar-denominated reserves.

Merkel versus NHS

Posted by Ivo Cerckel on 4th July 2009

Horum omnium crapulissimi sunt Belgae. (1)

In the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, thalidomide was prescribed by the National Health Service (NHS) of Her Majesty’s government. (2)

In Germany, the government has concluded an agreement with Chemie Grünenthal GmbH, the maker of thalidomide, exonerating Chemie Grünenthal GmbH from any future compensation claims. (3)

And all thalidomide monsters, none of whom were part in or to that agreement, are bound by that exoneration.

In the UK, where thalidomide was prescribed by the … government,
thalidomide victims are therefore compensated through a private settlement. (2)

The NHS, that is, the UK government, and Chemie Grünenthal GmbH are exonerated in Britain. (2)

Only Distillers Ltd., the licensee of Chemie Grunenthal GmbH in Britain, has to pay in Britain. (2)

In Germany, it’s only the government which has to pay. (3)

The Bundestag or parliament of the German government, which (the latter) is headed by chancellor Angela Merkel, therefore vehemently denied this week the Sunday Times accusations of February 2009 that thalidomide was created by the Nazis.

Es gebe keinen Anlass, die Aussage
[that’s the declaration Grünenthal that it developed thalidomide itself
not the declaration of The Sunday Times]
zu bezweifeln. (4)
(There’s no reason to doubt that declaration, says the Bundestag.)

It is impossible to be and not to be at the same time and in the same respect, said Aristotle in his “Metaphysics”. This is known as the Principle of Non-Contradiction.

The now-Federal Kingdom of Belgium therefore prefers killing thalidomide monsters in order not to have to deal with contradictions. (5)

To ask the Secretary of State for Health
(1) whether he plans to compensate those who have suffered adverse effects as a consequence of drugs prescribed by the NHS before the provisions of the Medical Safety Act 1968 came into effect;
(2) if he will bring forward measures for the financial compensation of thalidomiders whose mothers were prescribed thalidomide by the NHS.

Thalidomide victims are compensated through a private settlement, which was agreed between the Thalidomide Trust, which was established to administer annual payments to victims, and Distillers, which is now part of Diageo plc., the company that marketed the drug in the United Kingdom. Compensation payments are therefore a matter for the Thalidomide Trust and Diageo plc.
It is the Department’s policy not to make ex-gratia payments to patients who believe their health has been adversely affected by the use of pharmaceutical products. Responsibility rests with the pharmaceutical company concerned.
Responsibility for the testing of thalidomide, including tests to assess its safety, lies with Chemie Grünenthal, the original developer of the drug. In the United Kingdom, Distillers also undertook testing on thalidomide before its introduction to the UK market.
Prior to the Thalidomide tragedy, there was no formal drug regulation system in place to monitor the safety of medicines in the UK. As a result of the tragedy, a complete review of the machinery for marketing, testing and regulating drugs was initiated, including enactment of the Medical Act 1968, which introduced stricter testing for medicines prior to licensing to ensure that they meet acceptable standards of safety and efficacy.

Im Bundestag notiert: Contergan-Tabletten
- Familie/Antwort
