Kooks With Nukes In Pakistan: Uncle Sam Says Fret Not

Those who fret about the presence of nuclear weapons in the violent and unstable nation of Pakistan need not concern themselves. According to the U.S. government, Pakistan’s nuclear weapons arsenal is secure despite political turmoil after the assassination.

Of course this reassurance comes from the same administration that insisted that Saddam Hussein possessed WMD and posed a major threat to the United States. So much so that a military invasion was seen as the only viable choice.

Moreover, this comforting message concerning Pakistan comes from the same administration that has spent the past three years warning the world that Iran’s reckless attempt to go nuclear was pushing humankind closer and closer to World War 111.

Until, that is, the administration’s CIA produced a National Intelligence Evaluation (NIE) that suggested that Iran abandoned its nuclear weapons ambitions years ago.

The bottom line: Given the administration’s dreadful intelligence failures in recent years, who can trust anything coming from the U.S. government these days?
